Where is the air show located?

The Lake Cumberland Air Show is located at the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport in Somerset, Kentucky.

Where is parking?
All parking will take place in various parking lots along Kit Cowan Road.  Free shuttles will be provided to transport you to the terminal side of the airport to enjoy the air show.  NOTE: There will be NO parking directly on the airport.  We encourage you to visit the parking page for further details and planning.

 

Is there handicap or motorcycle parking?
Handicap and motorcycle parking is encouraged at the American Standard Fiat Parking and the Coke Parking lots.  Handicap equipped RTEC shuttle rides may be required from these locations. We encourage you to visit the parking page for further details and planning.

What if I have a classic car I would like to present?

Classic show car parking is available on airport property in the terminal parking lot and the grassy-area immediately adjacent.  For entry, proceed to the entry of 500 W. O. Newell Dr  Somerset, KY 42503 where a Somernites Cruise volunteer will direct you to parking.  *This parking is only available for classic or show cars for public display.

Do I need a ticket to attend?

No! Thanks to our partners, the Lake Cumberland Air Show is totally FREE!  
 

Why is the air show on Sunday only?

The Lake Cumberland Air Show is being held in conjunction with the Somernites Cruise-In the same weekend.  To allow for spectators to enjoy both events, the Cruise-In will be held downtown on Saturday with the air show taking place on Sunday.

What if it rains? Is there a rain date?

The air show will go on rain or shine, however severe weather or low clouds may hinder some flying activities. There is no rain date.

Can I bring chairs or blankets to sit on?

Yes! Folding chairs and blankets are welcomed and encouraged.

Can I leave and re-enter the air show?

Yes! One may leave and re-enter the air show area at any time.

What time do the gates open?

Gates open Sunday at approximately 10 AM. Check the schedule page for additional details.

Where can I find an air show schedule?

For security reasons, we are unable to provide individual performer start times. All acts are subject to change sometimes with little to no notice.  The air show will begin at approximately 1 PM and last for about two hours.  View the schedule page for further information on air show performance times.

What should I bring to the event?

Attendees are welcome to bring collapsible or folding chairs, cameras, blankets, umbrellas (small not to block the view of others), baby strollers, diaper bags for small children, strollers, and small personal items. All items will be subject to search.

What should I NOT bring to the event?

Illegal substances, coolers, glass containers, skateboards, scooters, or personal motorized vehicles, lasers, bicycles, carts, fireworks, toy guns, water guns, helium balloons, illegal substances, non-collapsible chairs, popup tents, pets (except for service animals), drones or remote control aircraft, and aerosol containers are not permitted within the event grounds. Unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling or giveaways, or unauthorized vending is also not allowed and will be enforced by local law enforcement.

 

Can I bring my drone?

No. A flight restriction has been put into place for this event. No drones are allowed anywhere in or near the event or within 3 nautical miles of the airport per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Violators face confiscation and up to a $11,000 fine. This will be strictly enforced.

Are pets allowed?

For the safety of all patrons, pets are not allowed within the event grounds except for approved and documented service animals.

Are there activities for children?

Yes!  There are various family friendly activities for children of all ages. There will be no shortage of things to see and do both in the air and on the ground.
 

Is the air show wheelchair accessible?

The majority of the tarmac is wheelchair accessible, however some displays and areas may be difficult to reach (i.e. grass).

Is there a static display at the air show?

Yes, a variety of civilian aircraft will be on static display throughout the day.

Is there a live stream of the event?

No. There is no live streaming planned for the 2021 event.  Please be cautious when interacting with fraudulent social media posts, especially when links ask for personal information and credit card details.  The 2021 Lake Cumberland Air Show is FREE event and can only be seen by attending in-person.  No tickets are required.

Can I fly my personal airplane to the air show?

Yes, but please be aware of the NOTAM published for the closure of the airport during the formal flying display.  All general aviation parking will be located on the GA ramp on the north side of the field.  If you are interested in showcasing your aircraft as a static display the air show, please contact us at aerotainmentsolutions@gmail.com
