WHERE IS THE AIR SHOW?
The 2024 Lake Cumberland Air Show takes place Saturday, September 21 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport (terminal side) in Somerset, KY. 500 W O. Newell Dr, Somerset, KY 42503
WHY IS THERE NO AIR SHOW IN 2023?
The Lake Cumberland Regional Airport requires a tarmac resurfacing project to take place during the later half of 2023. This results in the airport's east tarmac to be closed for several months while construction is completed. The next Lake Cumberland Air Show will take place Saturday, September 21 of 2024.
WHERE IS EVENT PARKING?
Event parking is free is located in various lots surrounding the Lake Cumberland Airport on Kit Cowan Rd. Other parking is available in the neighborhoods surrounding. Tickets do not include guaranteed parking. More details about parking and directions can be found on our parking page.
DO I NEED A TICKET?
Yes. Tickets to attend the air show are $TBD in advance, $TBD at the gate. Thanks to our partners, kids 6 & under are FREE with an accompanying adult. Buy tickets for the show here.
WHAT IF I CAN'T FIND MY TICKET?
The easiest way to get your tickets is to find your email order confirmation; tickets are usually attached as a PDF file you can print. Can’t find them, having trouble printing, or other questions visit Eventsprout Zendesk here.
WHAT IF IT RAINS? IS THERE A RAIN DATE?
The air show will go on rain or shine, however severe weather or low clouds may hinder some flying activities.
CAN I BRING BLANKETS AND CHAIRS TO SIT ON?
Yes! Folding chairs and blankets are welcomed and encouraged.
WHAT TIME TO THE GATES OPEN?
Gates open at approximately 10 AM.
WHERE CAN I FIND AN AIR SHOW SCHEDULE?
For security reasons, we are unable to provide individual performer start times. All acts are subject to change sometimes with little to no notice. The air show will begin at approximately TBD and last for about two hours. Please follow our social media channels for further information on air show performance times.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?
Attendees are welcome to bring collapsible or folding chairs, cameras, blankets, umbrellas (small not to block the view of others), baby strollers, diaper bags for small children, strollers, and small personal items. All items will be subject to search.
WHAT SHOULD I NOT BRING TO THE EVENT?
Illegal substances, coolers, glass containers, skateboards, scooters, or personal motorized vehicles, lasers, bicycles, carts or wagons, fireworks, toy guns, water guns, helium balloons, illegal substances, non-collapsible chairs, popup tents, pets (except for service animals), drones or remote control aircraft, outside food/drink, and aerosol containers are not permitted within the event grounds. Unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling or giveaways, or unauthorized vending is also not allowed and will be enforced by local law enforcement.
CAN I BRING OR FLY MY DRONE?
No. A temporary flight restriction has been put into place for the event. No drones will be allowed anywhere in or near the event or within 5 nautical miles of the airport per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Violators face confiscation and up to a $230,000 fine. This will be strictly enforced.
ARE PETS ALLOWED?
For the safety of all patrons, pets will not be allowed on the event grounds except for approved and documented service animals.
ARE THERE ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN?
Yes! There are various family friendly activities for children of all ages. There will be no shortage of things to see and do both in the air and on the ground.
IS THE EVENT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
The majority of the tarmac is wheelchair accessible, however some displays and areas may be difficult to reach (i.e. grass).
WILL THERE BE STATIC DISPLAYS?
Yes, a variety of civilian and military aircraft will be on static display throughout the day.
IS THERE A LIVE STREAM OF THE SHOW?
No, there is no live streaming planned for the 2022 event. Please be cautious when interacting with fraudulent social media posts, especially when links ask for personal information and credit card details. The 2024 Lake Cumberland Air Show can only be seen by attending in-person.
CAN I VIEW THE SHOW FROM LAKE CUMBERLAND?
Sadly no. The air show takes place on-site at the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport and with Lake Cumberland being a few miles away, it is not likely you will be able to see any of the flying.
CAN I FLY MY PERSONAL PLANE TO THE EVENT?
Yes, but please be aware of the NOTAM and published TFR for the closure of the airport during the formal flying display. The airport will be closed to fly-in traffic approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the show and will reopen at the conclusion. Transient/visitor aircraft parking is located on the north ramp with a golf cart shuttle to bring you the south side to enjoy the event.
